This is not a term I hear my colleagues use in Australia. We talk about suppliers or vendors, but in the U.S. the term jobber is used to describe wholesalers of books, audiobooks, videotapes and various other materials that they sell to bookstores and libraries at a discounted rate.

From Wikipedia other uses of the term include:

  • A person or corporation that engages in job production
  • A professional wrestler who routinely loses a match
  • A being or tool that "jobs", pecks, or stabs
