Thanks to Paul Pival the Distant Librarian, I have found out that the latest version of MS Word comes with built-in citation management.
At MPOW we are still using MS Office 2003, but I'm looking forward to seeing this new version.

This looked good so I followed your link to the Microsoft blog. Looking at the comments it appears that they forgot to provide for easily getting the citations into the database in the first place :( I guess we will be staying with recommending Endnote for the time being.
Future development will surely see some kind of integration with Academic Live to capture citations - if not it seems that these MS teams might not be talking to each other.
