This post by Erick Schonfeld at TechCrunch caught my eye for two reasons. Firstly Glide Crunch seems like a useful sort of a tool to try out. Secondly and more importantly the statement there about excel spreadsheets and Sharepoint.
"Desktop-based spreadsheets like Microsoft’s Excel give you all the features and speed you want, but are not easy to share. (Yes, there is SharePoint, but most people resort to e-mailing the bulky files around, creating a version-control nightmare)."
Sharepoint is being looked at as a possible solution for an intranet project. Avoiding email transfer of bulky files and version-control nightmares are key objectives - so I'd like to know why Sharepoint users are still emailing spreadsheets?
