I just had to try this out. Google books now has an option (at least for those books out of copyright) to capture a snippet to embed. What we have come to love about online video and slideshow sites has now come to books.

This functionality appears to offer text instead of image to embed, but in this case it seems the book is only scanned as an image and I could not grab the text.
Hint: If you want to try this out - use the Advanced search and specify date of publication earlier than 100 years ago. That should weed out a number of titles that will not have this option available.
