The NewLinks group developed the script for incorporating links to "on this day" services. I have added some of these to inn0vate. The script has been licensed through Creative Commons.

Blog translations
I have "borrowed" this idea from Pamela Heywood, who has kindly made the code available for download. Posts to this blog can now be viewed using the Google translation tools.
Have a look at Online Business Journal for more information and to download the code.

Hello Wendy
Welcome to my blogging sandpit.
In the side-bar on the right you can see where the "news" gets updated when I post new messages to my other blog.
Please add a comment to let me know what you think.

RSS to Javascript
Including RSS feeds into a webpage. This would be great for a "static" page that needs to be updated with news on a frequent basis.
Someone just adds news items to a blog. The feed to js allows the news to be updated automatically. PHP required if this is to be handled locally.
An RSS feed about Feed2JS is also available.

Instant Messaging Ask A Librarian
Clipping from Library Journal's article on Aaron Schmidt.
"In most cases, getting in touch with the library will be faster, and you'll get a better answer. AIM us: thommyford."
It did the trick. As Schmidt wrote in his own blog, Walking Paper, "Today I received my 100th question via AIM. We've increased our availability to patrons for no cost, and I've helped patrons who otherwise wouldn't have been helped. I've done more YA readers' advisory in the past two months than I have in the previous two years. I can't help but think that I'm breathing some life into libraries for these kids."
Another idea for communication with library users.

GPC Decatur Campus Library: Audio News #1
GPC Decatur Campus Library: Audio News #1
Example of a Library using mp3 files for broadcasting news. The catchy term "podcast" captures the ubiquitous iPod audience's attention.
